Robert

Robert is the co-founder of Friends Fronteras Saludables. He has volunteered with various organizations in Mexico since 2013. Robert has a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree is currently an elementary school teacher. He is passionate about contributing to services that benefit marginalized populations. As a resident of the San Diego-Tijuana region, he wants to do his part in contributing to better the community. In his spare time, Robert enjoys basketball and tacos. He has been a board member and Secretary of Friends of Fronteras Saludables since 2019.

Norma

Norma is a nutrition professional currently studying a PhD in Nutritional Sciences. She also has a master’s in Public Health. Originally from Mexico, Norma is passionate about public health nutrition and nutritional epidemiology. She has worked at a private clinic that allowed her to realize that health issues are systemic. She has also volunteered intermittently at the Health Frontiers in Tijuana clinic. She has been a board member of Friends of Fronteras Saludables since 2021.

 
Dulce

Dulce

Dulce grew up in Tijuana, México and currently resides in San Diego. She is a Research Analyst in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences at the University of California San Diego. Her research focuses on female pelvic floor dysfunction. She is passionate about improving outcomes and quality of life for women with genito-urinary disorders. In her free time Dulce enjoys roller skating and playing Pokémon Go. She has been a board member of Friends of Fronteras Saludables since 2021.

Emma

Emma is the co-founder of Friends of Fronteras Saludables. She has over 7 years of experience in Immunology and Stem Cell research. She currently works in clinical oncology research within the CAR-T cell therapy field. She is also a software engineer and is currently working on building a free coding Bootcamp for women in Armenia. When she is not working or programming, Emma loves to dance (any kind of dancing, but especially Salsa and Contemporary). She also loves to hike and rock climb on the weekends. She was a board member and President of Friends of Fronteras Saludables from 2019-2023.

Alexandra

Alexandra Foster is a board-certified Physician Assistant in San Diego. A California native, she was born in Carmel-by-the-sea and grew up in LA, but has traveled extensively around the world. She spent ten years studying and teaching mindfulness meditation and yoga before returning to academia at the age of 28. She studied Global Health at UCSD, where she was involved with HFIT as a student volunteer and clinical coordinator. She also took part in Clean Slate Tattoo Removal program, removing stigmatizing tattoos from probationers in San Diego. Through that project, she was invited to work at a residential treatment facility for inmates released from state prison to post-release community supervision. In 2017 she graduated from UCSD cum laude and phi beta kappa, and immediately went on to Western University of Health Sciences where she received her Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. She was a board member of Friends of Fronteras Saludables from 2019-2023. She loves living in San Diego with her wonderful husband and baby boy

 

Yazmin

Yazmin is a California native who is currently residing in Atlanta, Georgia. She is completing her graduate education to become a Physician Assistant at Emory University. In 2017, she graduated from UC San Diego with a double major in Global Health and Physiology & Neuroscience. Yazmin has a passion for addressing health disparities in Latino and migrant populations. During her time in San Diego, Yazmin was invested in various cross-border health organizations. Upon obtaining her Physician Assistant license, she plans to return to San Diego in order to continue to invest in cross-border health initiatives. Yazmin likes to spend her free time exploring nature with her husband and dog. She was a board member of Friends of Fronteras Saludables from 2019-2023.
